Who’s Leading the Fermata? is a thoughtfully crafted deck of 90 conversation cards designed to help chamber musicians connect and communicate effectively. Drawing on social science and performance practice, the deck bridges a pedagogical gap by helping musicians continue the conversations that often begin with a chamber coach. Organized into four categories; Musicality, Communication, Collaboration, and Connection. The cards ask questions designed to ignite and structure meaningful ensemble discussion. Like having a chamber coach in your pocket, they help musicians reflect, listen, problem-solve, and build trust between coaching sessions. Each card measures 2.5" × 3.5" and is printed on cardstock and packaged in a cardboard tuck box. More than conversation starters, these cards are a practical tool for developing stronger communication and deeper musical understanding for chamber ensembles.
